The European Code that governs road transport is the “European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR)” and its revised editions. The agreement is known by the acronym ADR, from the French “Accord Dangereux Routier”. Since 1999, the agreement also applies to domestic road transport in Greece. To revise the agreement, every two years developments in the technology of transporting dangerous goods (vehicles, equipment, dangerous materials and substances, packaging, environmental and personnel protection) are studied and the necessary amendments are made. In this way, the agreement is a “living”, constantly evolving instrument.
